(C) WINCHESTER MODEL 12 U.S. RIOT SLIDE ACTION SHOTGUN.

(C) WINCHESTER MODEL 12 U.S. RIOT SLIDE ACTION SHOTGUN. Dates to 1943. The frame is blued and displays no military marks. The barrel has a serial number of 1005722, not matching frame, and dates to 1943 as well. The barrel and tube display the parkerized finish with the Ordnance bomb and PW stamp. Features a plain barrel, singe bead front sight, plain pistol grip walnut stock, Winchester black butt plate and has the 18 groove round forearm. We can only speculate if barrel was added to the existing , non matching blued receiver either out of war necessity at the factory or assembled later. Given the priority given US contracts from 1942 through 1945 and the limited production of civilian units sold, it is entirely possible this gun was assembled as it now as at the factory. CONDITION: Fine. The frame retains approximately 70% blue with balance having drifted along with high edge and handling wear. The parkerized barrel tube assembly retains 90% of this finish exhibiting sundry handling marks. The stock is fine and exhibits sundry small dings and impressions. Mechanically sound with a bright bore.
