Native American, Midwestern United States, Mississippian Caddo. A pair of hand-built earthenware vessels, coil-constructed and open-fired, with mottled fire clouding across the surfaces. The smaller jar has a rounded body below a slightly everted rim, with applied lugs near the rim. The larger vessel rises to a wide flaring mouth, the collar incised with a band of short diagonal strokes, with vertical serpentine ridges of applied clay in low relief on the exterior. Item # 203145
