Calligraphic Manuscript.- Ibbs (Edith Anne, calligrapher and artist, 1863-1937) The Breastplate of St Patrick, calligraphic manuscript on vellum, title and 10pp., Celtic style decorated title, initials and line fillers, original vellum, slightly yellowed, 2 green cloth ties, modern slip-case, in fine condition, 8vo, Written out & illuminated by Edith A. Ibbs, 1911. *** Edith Ibbs was born in Fetcham, Surrey, in 1863, the daughter of Robert Giles Ibbs, schoolmaster. In 1881 the family was living in Selborne Place, Littlehampton, Sussex and by 1901 was living in the parish of Christ Church, Southwark. She illustrated books for the publisher's Seeley & Co. and Constable & Co.
