CAMBODIA. 20 Sen. 1959. - Value: 20 Sen. - Year: 1959. - Inscriptions: Obverse: ceremonial altar with rays and a legend in Khmer around. Reverse: “ROYAUME DU CAMBODGE · 20 SEN · 1959” with the value in Khmer at the center surrounded by a vegetal crown. - Grade: MS67 (NGC). 20 Sen coin with a detailed and symbolic design, where the obverse features a ceremonial altar from which rays emanate, evoking religious and traditional elements of the country, surrounded by an inscription in ornamental Khmer script. The reverse combines colonial and local influences, with the French legend and the Khmer value framed by a finely executed laurel wreath. The specimen is in an exceptional state of preservation, with very intense original luster, virtually flawless fields, and perfectly defined reliefs, typical of a very high grade. Issued during the Kingdom of Cambodia under Norodom Sihanouk, it reflects a period of national identity and cultural heritage in Southeast Asia in the mid-20th century.
