Rare and Superb Complete Collection from 1939! Discover the entirety of the Quillet Self-Taught Encyclopedia new edition in 4 period volumes (1939 print run, printed in Strasbourg just before the war). The absolute highlight of this copy: The extremely rare technical and scientific plates animated in paper-cut relief with movable systems (anatomy of the Giroflée, mechanics of the Bréguet transport aircraft, internal structure of the legendary Paquebot Paris and of a TSF Elcosa radio station). An exceptional feature for books of this age, all movable-system plates as well as the legendary Camille Flammarion’s Mobile Celestial Planisphere are 100% complete, functional and undamaged! The interior of the work is remarkably fresh: the paper has stayed very white, with no foxing or damp stain. The volumes also contain superb off-text facsimiles (handwritten letters by Victor Hugo, a maritime customs bill of lading from Worms & Co from the period). Publisher’s green percaline binding with splendid floral motifs blind-stamped. The orange spine labels show a patina of legitimate historical use.
