Camille Rousseau (1949) - Les élégantes à la plage ~...

Camille Rousseau (1949) – The Elegant Ladies on the Beach – Sainte-Cécile-Plage Atmospheric and particularly decorative beach scene by the French painter Camille Rousseau (1949), executed in oil on wooden panel. The painting shows a lively scene on the beach of Sainte-Cécile-Plage, a smaller seaside resort on the Opal Coast. On the wide sandy beach, a party of elegantly dressed bathers has gathered. Ladies in light dresses and hats sit on beach chairs or seek shelter under parasols, while other figures stroll along the shore. A few sailboats on the horizon enhance the maritime character of the scene. Rousseau combines the fresh blue of sea and sky with warm ochre and sandy tones. Accents in white, red, yellow and dark blue bring the figures to life. The small abandoned parasol in the foreground forms a playful detail and adds depth to the composition. The painting technique is loose and impressionistic, with clearly visible brushstrokes and locally impastoed paint. Figures, clothing and parasols are depicted with quick, sure touches. It is precisely this spontaneous way of painting that gives the small work its lively and sunny appearance. The work is signed bottom left with "Rousseau" and is presented in a richly decorated gold-colored frame, suited to the classical French character of the scene. including certificate.
