The Campo del Cielo meteorites are fragments of a massive iron meteorite that fell to Earth about 4,000–5,000 years ago in what is today Argentina. This event created a large scattered field in the provinces of Chaco and Santiago del Estero, extending over an area of about 60 square kilometers. The name Campo del Cielo ("Campo del Cielo") was given by the first Spanish settlers who learned of the site from the Indigenous people.
