They are two candelabras that fit perfectly with the Louis XVI aesthetic, that characteristic mix of balance, symmetry and refinement that marked the transition from Rococo to a more restrained classicism. Here, worked in silvered brass or German silver, they retain that slightly cool, elegant shine that distinguishes noble metals when used for dining or living room pieces. The structure is classic: a stylized central shaft rises firmly from which curved arms emanate, perfectly proportioned, ending in cups for five lights. The curves are restrained, never excessive, and the details — channels, discreet scrolls, small moldings — respond to that taste for measured ornamentation that defines the style. The base, wide and fluted, provides stability and an almost architectural air, as if the piece rested on a classical column base. Everything about them speaks of the late 19th or early 20th century, when French tradition continued to set the pace and European workshops produced impressive candelabras for dining rooms, salons and ceremonies. They are pieces that today still carry the ability to give gravitas to a space: elegant without rigidity, decorative without ostentation, heirs of a formal language that remains effective more than a century later.
