Candleholder - Glass

These objects are magnificent religious candle holders made in France in the 1920s-1930s by the famous Vosges glassworks, in Portieux. They depict on one side the Virgin Mary and on the other the Christ, two figures very important at that time for decorating the small prayer altar that families set up at home. The idea behind these models comes from the manufacturers' wish to transform traditional religious statues into everyday objects that are both useful and decorative, by using very modern shiny glass for the era.
