Candlestick - Wood - Antique torchiere chandelier

Antique carved and gilded wooden candlestick from the 18th century Elegant antique candle holder in carved and gilded wood, characterized by a refined elongated structure and rich ornamental decoration. The stem features shaped elements with vegetal motifs, fluting and raised decorative details, while the architectural base is embellished with a central rosette and curved feet. The gilding, with its warm tones and the patina of time, gives the artifact an authentic, lived charm, highlighting its decorative character. Particularly interesting is the rear part, left free of painted decoration and gilding, a feature that can be found in several 18th-century pieces intended to be placed against walls or in non-visible positions. This workmanship followed a logic of material and labor savings, common even in church and ecclesiastical settings, where finishing was concentrated on the surfaces in view. A construction detail that adds historical interest and testifies to a practical conception of decoration, without compromising the front-facing aesthetic richness.
