Car body part - Antico Baule da Automobile Auto Trunk in...

Fascinating antique car trunk, dating to the early decades of the 20th century, made entirely of metal with riveted construction. An interesting example of the early accessories linked to the birth of car travel, when vehicles did not yet have modern integrated luggage compartments and trunks of this type were used to transport luggage, tools and personal effects. The trunk features a sturdy rectangular structure in sheet metal, assembled with numerous visible rivets. The upper lid is hinged at the rear and has slightly protruding edges, while on the front there is still the characteristic central metal lock with a ring. Particularly fascinating is the external decoration, still clearly legible despite the passage of time: the base in red-brown tones is framed by black bands and embellished with fine yellow-gold fillets, with ornamental motifs in the corners. Traces of the decoration are also present on the lid. The simple construction, the large rivets, the hinges and the preserved hardware contribute to the strong historical and industrial character of the object. Dimensions Length: about 48 cm Depth: about 25 cm Height: about 26 cm Conditions Preserved in original antique condition, with evident patina, oxidation, abrasions, scratches, wear of the paint and decoration and other normal signs due to age and use. Not restored: it is precisely the lived surface and the traces of time that constitute an important part of the charm and character of the object. Photographs are an integral part of the description and show in detail the state of preservation. A particularly scenographic piece, interesting for vintage car and antique automotive accessories collectors, but also as a decorative element for historic garages, workshops, showrooms, lofts and industrial environments. The item will be carefully packed for tracked shipping.
