Carl-Henning Pedersen (1913-2007) - H.C. Andersen Suiten

Beautiful vibrant screen print by the famous Cobra artist. Framed with ART glass. Carl-Henning Pedersen, born in 1913 in Copenhagen; died in 2007 in Copenhagen. From the very beginning Carl-Henning Pedersen drew on the energy of children's drawings. His animals and human figures, placed in landscapes, are deliberately raw and unconventional; they reflect his refusal to ever submit his artistic independence to formal training. The starting point for his visual language is—and remains—the artist himself. He was a co-founder of the CoBrA movement, a movement that like no other managed to harness and transform the energy and power of spontaneity and imagination into a powerful artistic statement. The CoBrA movement lasted only three years before it dissolved, but that short period left a lasting impression. The vision of Carl-Henning Pedersen—that the source of art is not academic or learned, but spontaneous and individual—gained recognition in the following decade. In the late fifties he received his first international honours, which set the course for his further career. He continued to develop his visual universe and painting and increased the scale of his work through projects such as large-scale decorative commissions.
