Carlos Milanés - The past

Circe II — Carlos Milanés Description of the work Circe II is an original oil painting on panel offering a contemporary interpretation of the fascinating witch of Greek mythology. In this second version, Circe appears in an intimate and seemingly ordinary scene, distant from her traditional mythological portrayal. Her calm and reserved attitude contrasts with the energy of a composition full of color, matter, and spontaneous brushstrokes. The work explores the mystery, independence, and the silent power of a female figure who seems to inhabit her own world. Between figuration and abstraction, Carlos Milanés combines delicate neutral tones with intense accents of yellow, blue, and green, creating a painting of great visual force despite its small format. A unique work that unites mythology and contemporary sensitivity, where the everyday acquires a symbolic dimension.
