Carmen López Martínez, (Lalla): "The smaller sea that was" (2024)

This Artwork stems from the evocation of a Mar Menor that was still blue, clean, and luminous, when its waters intensely reflected the Mediterranean sky and the surrounding landscape. Through a gaze deeply connected to light and color, the painting recovers the memory of that serene sea, with its blue and turquoise hues, where water, sky, and horizon seemed to merge into a single atmosphere. More than a faithful representation of the landscape, the Artwork aims to convey a feeling: the beauty, calm, and luminosity of a Mar Menor that remains in memory. The brushstrokes and the treatment of color seek to transform that memory into an almost poetic image, inviting the viewer to contemplate not only a landscape, but also the memory of a landscape that once was.
