Carmen López Martínez (Lalla): Towards the end of the road (2021)

The artArtwork depicts two elderly men of Arab origin slowly ascending a seemingly endless street. Their heavy gait, far from merely reflecting the weariness of age, becomes a metaphor for life's journey. They move forward together, close to one another, symbolically supporting each other. Words are unnecessary: their gait expresses friendship, companionship, and solidarity, the certainty that the burden becomes lighter when shared. The street, which disappears without revealing its end, thus acquires a profound symbolic meaning, representing the path of existence, with its difficulties, uncertainties, and inevitable passage. The two old men do not face this climb alone, but together, reminding us that, sometimes, what truly matters is not reaching the end, but having someone by our side along the way.
