Collection of Birds: Winged Splendors — This sculpture of remarkable size and striking visual impact comes from Brazil, a nation renowned for its mineral wealth and its tradition in lapidary art. The work depicts a parrot finely carved in quartz, poised with elegance on an imposing amethyst geode. This creation unites artisanal mastery with the primordial beauty of the mineral world, giving rise to a collectible piece of rare harmony. The bird has been sculpted with meticulous attention to detail. The body is made of clear quartz, or rock crystal, whose milky translucence allows one to appreciate the internal textures that the artist has adeptly used to simulate the plumage’s texture. The surface is inscribed with fine lines that define the wings, lending the specimen notable realism. The curved beak and the accent on the tail, crafted in a red stone, create a lively chromatic focal point, while the eyes give expressiveness to the figure. The parrot is firmly anchored to a natural base of exceptional value: a vertical section of an amethyst geode. The outer part shows the original basaltic bark, with green and gray hues, a testimony to its volcanic origin. In the center, a deep cavity opens up, entirely lined with amethyst crystals. The crystal points, well-formed and of an intense, saturated violet, catch the light, creating countless glints. The contrast between the smooth surface of the parrot and the rough texture of the crystals is the aesthetic heart of the work. A superb example of Brazilian lapidary craftsmanship, this piece qualifies as an object of great value, destined to become the centerpiece of any setting. It is an ideal element to enrich a mineral collection, a contemporary Wunderkammer, or to embellish a study or a library. Its dual nature, as both artwork and natural wonder, makes it a fascinating conversation topic and a natural history piece to be displayed and admired.
