Carving, Antiek Frans jachttafereel - 67 cm - Wood

Beautiful antique hand-carved wooden panel, presumably made of walnut or oak. This kind of richly decorated panel originally served in the 19th century (often in the Henri II or Gothic Revival style) as the door of a hunting cabinet or sideboard. The woodcarving depicts in detailed relief a classical hunting scene or medieval scene. It shows a knight or hunter on horseback who, with a spear or lance, attacks a wild animal—a deer. (also referred to as St. Hubert who hunts the deer) In the background is a hilly landscape with a palm-like tree and a fortress or castle with towers. High-quality carved. Dimensions: about 67 cm high, and 37 cm wide Condition: in good condition, of course signs of use. For example the spear. Photos are part of the description. These were taken under artificial light; the color may vary. Mood impressions are shown. It will be well wrapped and sent by registered mail. Jiljes, where quality and service come first!
