Carved wood figurine “Madonna with Child” – Mary as Queen of Heaven with scepter and crown, on a suitable Neo-Baroque wall console The wood figurine Finely worked, polychromed and partly gold-plated wood sculpture of Mary as Queen of Heaven. The Mother of God wears a golden crown and a scepter in her right hand. She holds the Jesus child, who holds a globe, on her left arm. The dynamic drapery of the multicolored garment and the flowing posture give the figure an elevated aura. Dimensions: approx. height 29.5 cm, width 15 cm, depth 10.6 cm The wall console Matching the figure in Neo-Baroque style, wooden wall console. The console is polychromed (reddish-brown “marbling” with black veins) and partly gilded. The display surface is square, the body smoothly contoured. On the back there are two white metal eyelets for mounting. Dimensions: approx. height 6.1 cm, width 12.1 cm, depth 11.1 cm Manufacturer: Unknown woodcarving workshop / manufactory (typical Grödner or Alpine carving) Origin: Italy (South Tyrol, e.g., Grödnertal) or Germany/Austria (Alpine region) Year of origin: approx. 1960–1980 Period: 2nd half of the 20th century Style: Neo-Baroque / Historicism (Baroque-style replication) Technique: Hand-carved (or finely carved with hand finishing), polychromatically painted, partly marbled and gilded Material: Wood (e.g., limewood or maple) Condition Figurine: Very good used condition with minor age- and wear-related marks. The finish and gilding are overall well preserved. On the garment there is a small, spot-specific color loss/minor spot (see close-up). Console: Good used condition with typical signs of aging and slight surface scratches. The finish shows occasional light dents and wear at the edges and gilding. The mounting is intact. The set of figurine and console is visually harmonized and presents itself in an appealing, collectible condition.
