World War I era propaganda poster, circa 1918, designed by Casper Emerson Jr. and issued by the U.S. Treasury Department. The lithograph on paper features three American soldiers in a trench, with one manning a Browning M1917 machine gun fed by a continuous belt of five-dollar War Savings Stamps. The composition utilizes a vibrant orange and yellow sky against a dark foreground. The poster includes the printed text Help Them in yellow, followed by KEEP YOUR WAR SAVINGS PLEDGE in white block lettering. The bottom border is printed with ISSUED BY U.S. TREASURY DEPT. A signature in the plate on the lower left reads Casper Emerson Jr. followed by a small square logo containing the characters CE. The bottom white margin bears the printed text AMERICAN LITHOGRAPHIC CO. N. Y. in black capital letters. The poster is mounted to a mounting board backing.
