Gio Ponti's Armchair 829, designed for Cassina in the 1950s, is much more than an icon of Italian modern design. It is a museum piece, the starting point of a unique style that is still reproduced today in a thousand variants. A piece of furniture that combines the emerging modernity of postwar Italy with the unique artisanal woodworking of 20th-century cabinetmaking. Characterized by a reclining mechanical system, it is a homage to beauty and functionality, offering a comfortable and elegant seating experience. Armchair 829 in this auction was made in solid, joined walnut wood and finished with padded fabric using the old belt system to guarantee maximum seating comfort. Bibliography: U.
