Very large ceiling pendant/light fixture made of Murano glass with 12 'pulegoso' glass leaves and a central cup. Ceiling lights very similar have been attributed to Venini and Barovier, and were also produced by smaller Murano furnaces, but still at considerable costs at the time. This lamp comes from an apartment in Venice in the Sestiere of Dorsoduro, but purchase documents were not retained. The beautiful gilded metal framework supports two tiers of leaves, six on the upper tier and six on the lower, with double mounting screws. A central cup covers the joints where the leaves attach. Inside, 6 lights point upward, projecting onto the leaves, creating very evocative effects. The 'pulegoso' Murano glass is full of bubbles, obtained by introducing into the molten mass a substance to promote the development of gas bubbles. Beautiful gilded metal structure.
