centrophorid sharks Taxidermy full body mount...

The Centrophorus granulosus, commonly known as the sagrì or common centrophorus, is a deep-sea shark belonging to the family Centrophoridae. Adults typically reach a maximum length of about 150 cm. The body is fusiform and elongated, with a depressed snout. It is characterized by large elliptical green eyes, typical of abyssal species. Its skin is extremely rough, covered with non-overlapping dermal denticles. Historically, this skin (called shagreen) was highly valued in cabinetmaking for its abrasive properties. It possesses two dorsal fins, each preceded by a sturdy spine. It lacks an anal fin. The coloration varies from the brown-gray of juveniles to the gray-violet of adults, with a lighter belly. It is a benthic species that lives along continental slopes. It is generally found between 200 and 600 meters, but can reach depths beyond 1,400 meters. It is widespread in almost all temperate and tropical oceans, including the Mediterranean Sea. It is a carnivorous predator that feeds mainly on bony fish (such as anchovies and lanternfish), squid, and crustaceans. It is a viviparous species, meaning eggs hatch inside the maternal body. It has slow growth and high longevity. l 18.5 cm, h 15.5 cm, p 5.5 cm. The Centrophorus squamosus, known as the sagrì or leaf-scale centrophorus, is a small deep-water shark belonging to the Centrophoridae family. It is one of the larger members of its genus, with an average length of 110–158 cm and a recorded maximum of about 164 cm. The body is elongated and fusiform, with a short, broad snout. It presents a uniform coloration ranging from dark gray to chocolate brown. The name derives from its distinctive dermal denticles, which are large, rough, and have a characteristic leaf-like shape. It possesses two dorsal fins, each preceded by a short, sturdy spine. The first dorsal fin is long and low. It lacks an anal fin. It is a deep-water shark (dogfish) that lives mainly along continental slopes. It is rarely found at depths below 1,000 meters in the East Atlantic, but can reach up to 1,250 meters. It is found in the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Pacific. l 14.5 cm, h 12 cm, p 6 cm. Lot composed of two beautiful jaws, in a single lot two incredible collectibles. Have a good auction.
