A round-bodied jug or pitcher in earthenware from the Belgian manufactory La Céramique Montoise based in Mons, bearing the Bergen signature which refers to the city of Mons in Dutch. The piece features a matte satin black background that highlights a rich cloisonné floral and geometric pattern enameled in relief in the Art Deco style, blending shades of bright blue, yellow, orange ochre, mauve and turquoise on crackled white reserves. The lip of the spout as well as the rounded handle also receive the matte black finish of the whole piece. Underneath the base, the white earthenware bottom includes several handwritten markings painted in black underglaze, notably the mention Bergen, the design number D 101, the initials C M standing for Céramique Montoise, the incised mold shape reference 705, as well as a cross-shaped painter's mark. Regarding dimensions and weight, this pitcher measures 21 cm in height with a maximum body diameter of 15 cm, and features a weight of 850 g. The general state of preservation is very good, the piece showing no cracks, chips or restoration, and the polychrome cloisonné enameling has retained all its original brightness.
