Certina - Pointer Date - K.F.340 - Ref. 34748 - circa 1949 --- A charming vintage Certina manual-wind wristwatch from circa 1949, distinguished by its unusual pointer-date display, subsidiary seconds and beautifully balanced period dial. The silver-champagne dial is particularly attractive, combining applied gold-tone Arabic numerals and baton hour markers with a contrasting blue 1–31 date scale around the perimeter. The date is indicated by a slender central hand with a distinctive red crescent-shaped tip, giving the watch considerably more visual character than a conventional three-hand design. A finely detailed small-seconds register at 6 o’clock completes the classic configuration. Inside is the signed Certina K.F.340 hand-wound mechanical movement, clearly marked “Swiss Made”, “Certina” and “15 Jewels”. The movement is shown in detail in the photographs and represents an appealing piece of Certina’s post-war mechanical watchmaking. The compact case measures approximately 24.1 mm excluding the crown and is fitted with a black leather strap and contrasting gold-tone buckle.
