All auctions / Arts & Graphics / CHAGALL, MARC (1887–1985), „Intérieur“, 1961

Kaltnadelradierung und Aquatinta in Grün auf Velin. Plattenmaß ca. 31 × 22 cm. Unten rechts mit Bleistift handsigniert: Marc Chagall. Unten links bezeichnet: E.A. Insgesamt sehr guter Erhaltungszustand. Unter Glas gerahmt. Rahmenmaß ca. 60 × 49 cm. Literatur: Vgl. Patrick Cramer, Marc Chagall. Les Livres Illustrés, Genf 1989, Kat.-Nr. 48. | CHAGALL, MARC (1887–1985), “Intérieur,” 1961 Drypoint etching and aquatint in green on wove paper. Plate size approx. 31 × 22 cm. Hand-signed in pencil at lower right: Marc Chagall. Inscribed at lower left: E.A. (Épreuve d’Artiste / Artist’s Proof). Rare example, personally signed in pencil by Marc Chagall. Unlike the regular edition of 100 copies and the impressions from the book edition, which were not individually signed, this is an artist’s proof personally signed by the artist in pencil, outside the unnumbered and regular edition. The etching was created in 1961 as an original plate included with the monograph on the artist written by Franz Meyer, “Marc Chagall. Leben und Werk”, DuMont Schauberg, Cologne, 1961/1962. Printed by Lacourière et Frélaut, Paris. On the reverse of the frame are old handwritten notes concerning the work, edition (“Etching for Franz Meyer, 1962 / edition of 100 copies, some E.A. proofs”) and printer. Fresh, attractive impression with full margins. Minimal browning within the mat opening; verso mounted on cardboard at the upper corners. Overall in very good condition. Framed under glass. Frame size approx. 60 × 49 cm. Literature: Cf. Patrick Cramer, Marc Chagall. Les Livres Illustrés, Geneva, 1989, cat. no. 48. SHIPPING TO THE USA MUST BE ARRANGED BY THE BUYER.
