Champagne cooler (2) - Art Deco - - Silverplated - Ice Bucket & Floor Stand

Impressive Art Deco Silver-Plated Ice Bucket with Tall Floor Stand – Geometric Wooden Handles – France – Circa 1925–1940 Style An impressive and highly decorative Art Deco-style silver-plated ice bucket with an elegant tall floor stand, featuring beautiful geometric detailing and a sophisticated combination of polished silver-plated metal and dark wood. With an overall height of approximately 81 cm, this striking ensemble is a wonderful example of the geometric elegance and architectural simplicity associated with the Art Deco period. Design and Decoration The ice bucket features a beautifully proportioned, slightly tapered cylindrical body, decorated with two groups of finely engraved horizontal lines. Particularly striking are the two substantial dark wooden handles, beautifully shaped into multifaceted geometric forms. Their sculptural appearance creates an elegant contrast with the reflective silver-plated surface. The accompanying floor stand features a tall, slender column decorated with fine vertical fluting, rising from a substantial circular base with elegant concentric detailing. The combination of horizontal lines on the ice bucket and vertical lines on the stand creates a particularly harmonious architectural composition. The design reflects the geometric simplicity, symmetry and refined elegance characteristic of the Art Deco movement. Origin, Period and Hallmarks Both pieces were acquired in France and display stylistic characteristics associated with French Art Deco design of the 1920s and 1930s. The underside of the ice bucket bears a maker's hallmark, apparently featuring the initials MB within a square, together with an additional numerical mark. The manufacturer has not yet been conclusively identified. No maker's hallmark has been found on the floor stand. The two pieces were originally acquired separately and have been brought together because of their complementary design and proportions. The ice bucket fits securely into the upper holder of the floor stand, forming an elegant and fully functional ensemble. Although not presented as an original matching set by the same manufacturer, their corresponding geometric decoration creates a particularly attractive and visually unified composition. Function and Use Designed for elegant entertaining, the ice bucket is ideal for holding ice cubes or chilling a bottle of champagne, wine or other beverages. The tall floor stand allows the bucket to be conveniently positioned beside a dining table, champagne service or cocktail bar, providing both functionality and an impressive decorative presence. This elegant ensemble would make a wonderful addition to an Art Deco interior, luxury dining room, sophisticated home bar, hotel or restaurant. It is equally attractive as a decorative collector's piece.
