Charles-François LEBRUN, Duke of Plaisance (St-Sauveur-Lendelin, Manche, 1739–1824) Publicist and Legislator, Deputy, 3rd Consul of the Republic under BONAPARTE, Prince Archchancellor of the Empire—Letter A.S. “Lebrun,” from Genoa (Italy) on March 9, 1806: “I have received, Sir, your fine and excellent work, and I thank you for it. I have already mentioned it to the magistrates and have done so, Sir, in a public publication. It will soon be presented there in greater detail and as it deserves. Unfortunately, Genoa is not the wealthy city one might suppose. Our magistrates are not well-off… your work will find very few buyers here…” (At that time, LEBRUN had fallen in love with a Genoese marquise). 1 page, in-4°.
