Chess set - Wood

A magnificent and strikingly large chess set, consisting of hand-carved wooden pieces, a custom-made faux-leather case, and a luxurious wooden chessboard. The pieces are executed in the characteristic Polish decorative style. Notable are the broad, layered crowns and rooks (reminiscent of pagodas or small pine trees) and the clean, geometric notches in the wood. The pieces are made of light beech or maple wood. The dark pieces are stained. The luxurious board is made of solid wood with inlaid light maple and dark rosewood. The pieces are delivered in a custom-made faux-leather case, with green fabric lining on the inside. The board measures 52x52x1.5 cm, the king’s height is 10.5 cm. The case is 33x33x5 cm. Dating is estimated to be from the 1980s. The chess pieces and board are in good to very good condition; the case shows clear signs of wear on the outside. For a good impression, view the photos. Note: due to its size, delivery is only to mainland Europe.
