This is an original Australian cast recording of the Sydney Theatre Company production of the musical Chicago, released in 1981. The item is a 12-inch vinyl LP record designed for 33 1/3 RPM playback in stereo. The production features Nancye Hayes as Roxie Hart, Geraldine Turner as Velma Kelly, and Terence Donovan as Billy Flynn. The musical features music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. The production was directed by Richard Wherrett and sponsored by Boral. The front cover features stylized Chicago typography over a graphic of a sparkling top hat and a hand with red manicured nails. The back cover includes production photography of the lead cast members, a complete track listing, and a full credit roll. The record label and back cover bear the Polydor brand and the catalog number 2907 068. Printed text on the label includes Australian Cast Recording and Sound recording made by PolyGram Records Pty. Limited. First published 1981 in Australia. A vintage retail sticker from the London-based musical theater shop Dress Circle is present on the upper right corner of the sleeve.
