Pre-Columbian stirrup-spout ceramic vessel with a modeled human face and a bridge handle leading to the spout. This form is called Stirrup-Spout Bottle (stirrup vessel). The face could represent an ancestor, a deity, or a dignitary. From the former Chimu culture, Peru 800-1200 CE. Origin: Acquired from the heirs of a teacher who bought this object in Peru in the 1960s.
