"Flying Dragon" Hung-hsien 10 Dollars in Gold CHINA. 10 Dollars, ND (1916). Tientsin Mint. Hung-hsien (Hongxian [Yuan Shih-kai]). PCGS Genuine--Scratch, Unc Details. L&M-1027; Fr-3; K-1515; KM-Y-333A; WS-0056. An EXCEPTIONAL RARITY that is always desirable, this gold denomination displays a crisp, sharp strike and radiant brilliance, though a few scratches are noted in front of the bust, and some scattered hairlines are observed in the fields. Vibrant golden-yellow hues dominate, along with radiant, cartwheeling brilliance. Featured on the obverse is the familiar side-profile view of Yuan Shih-kai, here styled as the Hung-hsien emperor, and on the reverse is the ever-enchanting flying dragon more commonly encountered on the "tall hat" Dollars of the same year. Estimate: $20,000 - $30,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏). To view all items from the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏), click here. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
