CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 3 Mace 6 Candareens (50 Cents), Year 22

Impressive Survivor from Chihli's Earliest Series CHINA. Chihli (Pei Yang). 3 Mace 6 Candareens (50 Cents), Year 22 (1896). Tientsin (East Arsenal) Mint. Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS EF-45. L&M-440; K-182; KM-Y-64; WS-0604; Wenchao-607 (rarity: ★★★). A monumental offering from Pei Yang's initial coinage, this stately minor emanates from an emission often plagued by damage of one kind or another. Here, however, the present example is original and free from issue, even sporting some glints of brilliance among the more protected areas. Clearly struck and with a great overall degree of detail remaining, this RARE offering should elicit a great deal of spirited enthusiasm. Estimate: $15,000 - $25,000.
