CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Lot of (2). Netherlands Trading Society. 100

CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Lot of (2). Netherlands Trading Society. 100 Dollars, 1.1.1922. P-S461p1 & S461p2. S/M#S51. Front & Back Colour Trials. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63. A spectacular 100 Dollar colour trial pair from this popular issuer. (Please note PMG calls this a proof) As mentioned before, the salient features of the note comprise the Martial God of Wealth, Zhao Gong Ming, and the three-arch bridge below. The note is presented in a large-size format in predominantly green colour on both the obverse and reverse. As 100 Dollars represented a huge sum of money at the time, it is doubtful whether many issued notes were released into circulation, and if so, they must have been redeemed in full, leaving collectors with just a limited number of specimens to collect. Our online auction archive shows we have only previously offered a photographic proof, a printed proof pair, and a specimen of this denomination. The present colour trial pair is believed to be the only one graded by PMG and is sure to command strong interest as Netherlands related material has become increasingly popular over the last several years as more collectors discover these enigmatic and appealing issues. PMG Comments "Small Tear" on the front proof and "Paper Pulls" on the back proof.
