CHINA. Kwangtung. 3.65 Candareens (5 Cents), ND (1889). Kwangtung

Commendable "Reversed" Kwangtung 3.65 Candareens CHINA. Kwangtung. 3.65 Candareens (5 Cents), ND (1889). Kwangtung Mint (struck from Heaton Mint dies). Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details. L&M-127; K-20; KM-Y-194; WS-0935; Wenchao-556 (rarity: ★★★). The smallest denomination from a series that is now highly appreciated, this example was far less popular with the public at the time of its mintage. Owing to its slightly heavier weight scale as well as the "surrounded" nature of the emperor's name (with respect to the English legends), the entire series was quickly abandoned, making the surviving examples VERY RARE and hotly collected today. Though some slight wear and moderate cleaning are observed, this minor nevertheless remains exceptionally charming. Estimate: $5,000 - $10,000. Provenance: From the MC Collection (陳氏家族集藏).
