Chinese Qing Dynasty Wooden Saddle with Iron Fittings – Late 18th to Early 19th Century AD A Chinese Qing Dynasty saddle constructed around a substantial carved wooden frame with strongly raised pommel and cantle, reinforced along the edges with iron fittings. The curved seat and high front and rear arches reflect the traditional form of Qing-period equestrian equipment, designed to provide a secure riding position and distribute pressure across the horse’s back. The saddle preserves its original structural components, including the wooden body, metal edging and attachment points for straps and associated tack, with extensive age-related wear, cracking and surface patination consistent with prolonged use and considerable age. Qing equestrian culture placed great importance on horsemanship, and saddles of this general form were used throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Material: Wood and Iron Dimensions: 52 x 37 x 28 cm Weight: 4.3 kg Provenance: Acquired in Germany at an Auction House. We guarantee the authenticity of the pieces, backed by the combined experience of our experts spanning more than 40 years. A Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) will be sent digitally by email.
