CHINA. Silver 50 Cents Pattern, Year 3 (1911). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung

Scintillating 50 Cents Pattern from the Ch'ing Dynasty's Final Year CHINA. Silver 50 Cents Pattern, Year 3 (1911). Tientsin Mint. Hsuan-t'ung (Xuantong [Puyi]). PCGS SPECIMEN-63. L&M-39; K-228; KM-Y-30; WS-0047; Wenchao-121 (rarity: ★★★). Variety with incuse swirl on fiery pearl. Towering as one of the finest of the type observed in the PCGS census, this staggering example presents phenomenal ocular excitement and flare, with exacting crispness imparted unto all aspects of the strike. In fact, the coiled dragon itself seemingly comes alive, its midsection clearly in an act of twisting about, with the tactile nature of the scales allowing for great depth. The toning is mostly a burnished gunmetal gray in hue, with tinges of deeper color perfectly encapsulating the devices. Truly a remarkable specimen that pairs stunning RARITY with the most intense eye appeal and character imaginable. Estimate: $150,000 - $250,000. Provenance: From the Liu Mung Wang (汪柳門) Collection.
