Wholesome "Small Characters" Silver Dollar Pattern CHINA. Silver Dollar Pattern, Year 12 (1923). Tientsin Mint. PCGS AU-55. L&M-81; K-680; KM-Y-336; WS-0114; Chang-CH241; Wenchao-885 (rarity: ★★). Small characters variety. Though described many times in the past as the "Puyi Wedding" type, this design has more accurately come to be known as featuring a new national emblem through its dragon and peacock iconography. Pleasingly toned an amber-gray nature, and with some enchanting golden hints throughout, this specimen resides near Mint State status, with incredible allure and originality evident. Differing from the large characters variety not just in the overall size of the two on the reverse, it should be noted that this variety also features a different stroke near the base of the 壹 than is generally encountered within the republican series.
