Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Teapot – Lion Dance and...

A beautiful and highly decorative Chinese famille rose porcelain teapot with a distinctive overhead handle and matching fitted lid, probably dating to the late Qing Dynasty. The rounded body is finely hand-painted in vibrant famille rose enamels, depicting charming traditional Chinese figural scenes. One side features a lively festive procession with figures performing a traditional Chinese lion dance, while the reverse depicts elegantly dressed figures in a peaceful garden setting. The decoration is executed in delicate shades of pink, turquoise, green and iron red, complemented by refined gilded details. The teapot features an elegant arched overhead handle with iron-red decoration, a gracefully curved spout and a domed lid with a gilded finial and gold-trimmed rim. The underside bears a distinctive iron-red square seal mark. The unglazed foot rim shows natural age-related characteristics. Iron-red square seal mark to the underside. Excellent condition. A charming and beautifully preserved example of Chinese famille rose porcelain, combining colourful traditional figural decoration with an elegant and unusual teapot design.
