Chinese Kraak porcelain dish, c. 1580, Wanli Period.

Chinese porcelain ‘Kraak’ dish, Wanli Period, c. 1580. The barbed rimmed dish, painted to the centre in underglaze blue, with a scene of ducks on a river. The broad border with lightly moulded panels, painted with panels of birds, alternating with panels of flowering plants, divided by thinner panels containing a Buddhistic emblem, on a stylised wave ground. Painted to the reverse with panels of ruyi head symbols, and sprigs of flowers, around an unglazed footrim.
