Chinese made teapot ca. 1940 - Porcelain, Rattan - China - 20th century

Antique decorative Chinese basket made of braided reed with teapot. Circa 1930–1950. Fitted with a brass latch and a double brass handle. Oval model with a hinged lid by means of two brass rings. This type of basket was used as a travel basket for a porcelain tea set. The reed or rattan provides insulation, helping the tea stay warmer longer. In this basket the teacups are missing. The basket is in excellent condition. The teapot is nicely decorated and still in good condition, even the spout is still intact. Two chips are missing from the lid. Basket dimensions: 24 x 18 cm, height 16 cm. Teapot dimensions: diameter 11.5 cm without the spout, height 13.5 cm.
