East Asia, Northern China / Mongolia, ca. mid-20th century CE. A silver necklace featuring turquoise and coral beads, centered around a large pendant of a richly adorned woman holding a sycee - a traditional silver ingot and enduring symbol of wealth and prosperity. Above her is a stylized fu bat, emblematic of good fortune, happiness, and abundance in Chinese culture. The bat is strung on cotton thread with additional coral, turquoise, and silver beads, and suspended from a silver-copper chain. Delicate silver bell charms hang from the chain, producing a soft, melodic tinkling with movement to subtly announce the wearer's presence. The piece is crafted predominantly from high-purity silver (ranging from 83% to 96%), with the terminal chain links composed of approximately 50% silver, possibly plated over copper. Size of strand doubled: 20.5" L (52.1 cm); woman pendant: 3.3" L x 0.75" W (8.4 cm x 1.9 cm); silver quality: 50% to 96%; weight: 90.2 grams Item # 193424
