Christmas decoration (9) - Textile, Wood, Plastic - Nativity scene fabric set

The ensemble comprises nine figures: Mary, Joseph, the Christ Child in a wooden manger, three kings, and three shepherds. The largest figure measures about 20 cm, on average 17–19 cm. Characteristic are elaborately draped textile garments, gold-colored trimmings, color-painted heads and hands, and wooden stand plates. On some stand plates the brand “BUTZON & BERCKER” is affixed, the website address www.bube.de, sometimes with reference numbers and/or price tags. An exact workshop note is not available. The faces and hands appear to be plastically modeled and polychromed. The garments are separately crafted from various textiles and decorated with braids. The construction is typical for clothed nativity figures. The stylistic proximity to Alpine-Southern German nativity-tradition suggests a possible place of manufacture.
