The company is known for having introduced electrolytic gilding and silver plating in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by the luxury group of the Chalhoub family. Christofle relies on entirely handmade production following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning‑repoussé, planishing, chasing, and engraving, carried on by its Master Silversmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know‑how, transmitted by highly skilled artisans from master to apprentice, that constitutes Christofle’s living heritage.
