The company is known for having introduced electroplated gold and silver plating in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the Chalhoub family luxury group. The Maison Christofle relies on entirely handmade craftsmanship carried out according to traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning-repoussage, planishing, chasing, and engraving, perpetuated by its Master Goldsmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces. It is this irreplaceable human know-how, passed from master to apprentice, that constitutes Christofle's living heritage. True "Living Treasures".
