The company is known for having introduced electroplated gilding and silvering in France in 1842. The company was acquired in 2012 by one of its shareholders, the luxury group of the Chalhoub family. The House of Christofle relies on production that is entirely handcrafted following traditional techniques. The precious crafts of turning-repoussé, planishing, chasing, and engraving, perpetuated by its Master Silversmiths and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France, immortalize the qualities of elegance and excellence of all Christofle pieces.
