Circular relief with a courtly couple, historicist school, 19th century

Descriptio Terracotta relief. Measures 23 x 23 cm; with frame 35 x 35 cm. Circular composition with a pair of standing figures in a schematic vegetal setting. The male figure, wearing a hat and short tunic, carries a sword at his waist and holds the hand of the female figure, who wears a long tunic. Both are framed by trees with slender trunks and stylized canopies that close the scene on either side, reinforcing the narrative and decorative nature of the relief. The circular frame and the frontal arrangement of the figures emphasize the medal-like character of the piece. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
