French Napoleon III mantel clock – Gallant couple – Alabaster and régule – Functional Elegant French mantel clock from the late 19th century, in the Louis XV / Napoleon III style, resting on a white alabaster base and adorned with a romantic scene depicting a gallant couple in 18th-century attire. The cylindrical case is richly decorated with rocaille motifs and topped with an elegant openwork pediment. The enamel dial with Roman numerals is framed by a fine pearl frieze. The whole has a beautiful decorative presence and a charm typically French. The clock is equipped with a French mechanical movement with a bell strike, supplied with its pendulum and a winding key. Condition Functional. Enamel dial in generally good condition. Marble without major visible cracks. Wear, rubbing, and light oxidations consistent with age. Gilding showing some traces of time. Old repair on the upper openwork ornament. Some marks and soiling on the movement. See the photos; they are an integral part of the description.
