All auctions / Lighting / Colibri - Kickstart - Semi Automatic - Art Deco - Lighter - Chrome Plated Metal

Up for auction is an iconic piece of tobacciana history: a vintage Colibri "Kickstart" semi-automatic petrol lighter, manufactured in Switzerland during the 1930s. Invented by Julius Lowenthal, this classic model features Colibri's famous "Kickstart" mechanism—pushing the spring-loaded lever releases a swift recoil that ignites the wick in a single action. Condition: Fully functional with a strong, crisp spark and working flame (as shown in photos). Excellent mechanical spring tension. Shows authentic vintage patina, surface wear, and plating loss consistent with age and light use. Design: Engine-turned geometric pattern finish with a blank oval monogram cartouche engraved with the initials "MCB". Markings: stamped on the underside with “COLIBRI PATENT”, “SWISS MADE”, and British Patent No. 321323. Mechanism: Original semi-automatic kickstart action with top wick cap and bottom fill/flint access screws.
