Bureau / Provençal dresser, Louis XV style, 19th century - France Small desk - Provençal dresser Style: Louis XV Material: Wood Period: 19th century Country of origin: France Good condition considering its age and use Closed dimensions: 99.5 x 82 x 40 cm. Open dimensions: 99.5 x 82 x 72 cm. Exquisite small bureau or Provençal dresser made in the 19th century, following the Louis XV style. This light desk stands on four carved legs. Its front features a frame with two handles at the bottom and two smaller frames at the top, in addition to the fold-down writing surface, the bureau itself. The hardware for the lock boxes and hinges is in antique iron. This discreet fold-down service front houses inside two small drawers and more compartments typical of a desk. Lightweight, practical, and versatile furniture. The Provençal style originates in France, in the Provence region, in the 18th century. It began its journey and development by following the premises of the sophisticated and rich Louis XV style but adapting it to the countryside mansions of the French countryside where the aristocracy, and later the bourgeoisie of the moment, recreated a warm atmosphere. These second homes sought to serve as a kind of escape and resting place from the frenetic life of these great aristocrats, hence a preference for soothing decoration inspired by nature. It thus became a romantic break with the ostentatious palace life of the court. This style is inspired by the natural beauty of its place of origin, rural spaces full of vineyards, blooming fields, etc. The preferred material is wood, helping to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, usually with a worn appearance. Product shipping will be paid by the purchaser according to the dimensions, weight, and destination. We will contact you to arrange it and agree on the budget.
