Complete lot of 25 pieces: irreplaceable exotic day-flying butterflies

This is a museum-worthy lot of 25 tropical Nymphalidae from the famous private collection of Vestergaard – a collector known for his highly colorfast, perfectly prepared South American butterflies from the 1970s-1990s. The lot contains almost exclusively Neotropical species from Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador and Panama, with a few African and Southeast Asian species as supplements. Condition: A-/A2, colors very vivid. Why this lot is exceptionally rare: A complete original museum drawer with 25 different species in this quality is never encountered again. Vestergaard collected only specimens he had caught himself or obtained directly from the source. Species such as the red Callicore hesperis, Historis odius with a tail, Antirrhea philoctetes and the blue‑purple Doxocopa emperors are considered highly sought after and difficult to obtain. None is CITES-listed.
